Over on the Brushbeater Radio Recon Group Telegram we got a fascinating look at how the modern fighting carbine is evolving among professional and even semi-professional actors overseas. A 5.56 carbine in the 12-14 inch flavor, low magnification optic and a can.
Pretty neat homegrown setup in the wild and after all, it works.
What does my own look like? Well - everything from running Fighting Carbine to coyote hunting, I'm running the same simple weapon we pieced together from parts around the shop - a YHM integrally suppressed 11.5in 5.56 upper, a PSA lower with B5 systems furniture and the excellent Larue trigger, a Khyber MDO running behind a thermal along with an IR laser for running under NODs. Made this shot on a coyote in a dead sprint at 150yds:

Its neat to see that even the booger eaters are figuring out in short order how to be more individually effective. The heart of that is optics and enabler integration.
